What We Do
At the Intercultural Senior Center, we improve the dignity, quality of life, and physical well-being of seniors from around the world through advocacy, education, access to social services, and cultural enrichment activities that benefit the entire community. Many seniors in our community, in particular immigrant and refugee seniors, have health, emotional, and legal needs that go unmet because they are isolated by poverty, language and cultural barriers, and lack of transportation.
Nutrition Education and Cooking Classes
We partner with the VNA to teach seniors how to cook new recipes and improve eating habits.
We offer low impact exercise classes to reinvigorate seniors. We partner with nursing students who check glucose, blood pressure, and give our seniors health-related presentations.
We offer basic English and Spanish classes, a literacy program, citizenship classes, computer classes, and arts and crafts.
We work closely with low income, at-risk seniors to coordinate social services, programming, health, and mental health referrals.
The Intercultural Senior Center is the only senior center in our community that welcomes seniors from around the world with culturally-appropriate, high-quality services and programs. Learn more from some of our seniors in the videos below.
