Help make college possible.

We want to raise $20,000 to support College Possible during Omaha Gives!

By supporting College Possible, through Omaha Gives!, together we can provide promising low income students the chance to reach their dream of a college education.

What We Do

College Possible is breaking the cycle of poverty for low-income, first generation Omaha youth by empowering them to pursue their dreams of higher education.

College Possible programming supports promising low income students in nine Omaha metro area high schools from their junior year of high school through college graduation.

The innovation of using AmeriCorps members, or ‘coaches’, to implement our award-winning programming is one of the key factors that sets College Possible apart from other more traditional models. Coaches provide direct program services and are intensively trained and supervised by full-time staff. Coaches are recent college graduates; many of which are first generation college students, making them relatable mentors and examples for the students we serve who share the same background. These leaders receive a curriculum and training and support throughout the year.

Each high school student participates in two-hour afterschool sessions twice each week. Junior year programming is focused on college awareness, academic support, financial planning and intensive ACT preparation. Senior year programming is focused college application, financial aid consulting, financial planning and guidance on the transition to post-secondary education. Students also commit to participating in college fairs and college campus visits. After high school, College Possible continues to serve students throughout college as they work toward graduation and workforce entry.

High school juniors will improve their average ACT test score by a minimum of 16 percent. At least 98 percent earn acceptance to an institute of higher education. In 2015, our 229 seniors earned over $1.1 million dollars in private and institutional scholarship dollars.
